Description

Portugal has a very good offer in terms of grey colored marble. These generally present a light to dark grey colored background, which may include some mix of other colors such as white, or simply dark and light grey colors. There are numerous choices of grey marble in Portugal and we present here some of the most important ones:
Ruivina Dark: a dark colored grey marble, presenting a clouded structure and some signs of white color.
Ruivina Light: a light grey marble, with similar background structure as the Ruivina Dark, but showing more white color and lighter overall color tones.
Black Lava: a dark grey marble with contrasting white colored areas, with a fairly wild-looking background.

Extraction area

Portuguese grey marble are explored around the area between the cities of Estremoz and Vila Vicosa, which are located on the Southern part of Portugal, about 180km East of Lisbon and roughly 60km West of the border with Spain.

This area is located in the Alentejo region and considered the main extraction area for Portuguese marble, with long history of extraction and production of grey colored marble.
